The IDS Fort Myers Chapter’s holiday party at Miromar Design Center benefitted the Children’s Network of Southwest Florida

ESTERO, Fla., Dec. 21, 2016 – Local members of the Interior Design Society (IDS) recently aligned with the Children’s Network of Southwest Florida to donate gifts for the holidays to children within the charity’s foster program. The presents were collected at the IDS Fort Myers Chapter’s annual holiday party, which was hosted at Miromar Design Center.

“As interior designers, we make people’s homes beautiful. However, many of these kids don’t have a permanent home,” said Eva Sahlin, president of the IDS Fort Myers Chapter. “I think that’s why this cause has been so close to our hearts. This is our way of bringing the feeling of home to them and showing them that they matter.”

According to Sahlin, the IDS Fort Myers Chapter sponsored 20 children ranging in age from infants to 17. Their holiday wish lists included everything from baby dolls to Pokémon cards.

When guests arrived, they placed their gifts below the elegantly decorated Christmas tree in the main atrium of Miromar Design Center. Then, they enjoyed fine wine, hors d’oeuvres and dessert as they toured the design center’s luxury home furnishings showrooms.

“It was a pleasure to have this wonderful event at Miromar Design Center,” said Deborah Hamilton, director of marketing and business development for Miromar Design Center. “We enjoy working with local charities to support the community in any way we can.”

Miromar Design Center is the only design center in Southwest Florida. Open to the public, it is the premier shopping destination for design professionals and consumers alike. The 45 home furnishing stores feature a worldwide collection of desired names in furniture, fabrics, flooring, lighting, kitchen and bath products, art, accessories, wall coverings and more.
